Core Reasons why Married Couples are said to be the Happiest...

  • Emotional "Safety Net": A spouse acts as a "super-friend" who provides a dependable source of emotional support and companionship, which are basic human needs. This connection helps release hormones like oxytocin and dopamine, which foster bonding and well-being.
  • Buffer Against Stress: Married individuals have a partner to help them navigate life's challenges, from work stress to family issues, essentially allowing them to face problems with "double strength".
  • Physical Health & Longevity: Statistical data shows that married people, particularly men, tend to live longer and have lower rates of cardiovascular disease, suicide, and alcohol abuse. They are also more likely to take better care of themselves, eat healthier, and attend regular medical checkups.
  • Financial Stability: Marriage often leads to increased wealth through shared expenses, combined incomes, and joint financial planning. On average, married couples build more wealth over time than single or cohabiting individuals.
  • Built-in Accountability: Partners often encourage each other to avoid risky behaviours and maintain healthier lifestyles.
